Slow Down, Sit Down, & Use That Little Brain of Yours!

If you're addicted to blogs like I am then you know how easy it is to end up miles away from where you began, the trigger finger launching you from one site to the next, never to find your way back again. The beauty though is in the little details, like finding a great gift for a young one's birthday party. I found this creative little work of art, called the Blank Book, on Modern Child.

Blank Book is an “empty book” that offers unlimited possible solutions to be “filled in”; it’s not a “book-to-be-read”, but a “book-to-be-created”. The bright images that stream on the pages are a sort of sketch, like vivid suggestions drafted by MartĂ GuixĂ© to inspire the creation of stories always in a different way. The task of the “reader” is indeed to “take up the word”, to get right into the creative process and invent the story through the writing.

I also love the Plus & Minus card set by Bruno Munari. I love activities like these that inspire children to slow down, sit down and do something creative. In an age where kids are so over-scheduled and spend a lot of time in front of a computer, tv, or video game, I think these types of activities are fantastic.
